Scratch Recordings
🎵 “I like beautiful melodies telling me terrible things.” — Tom Waits
As new song ideas emerge, I quickly lay them down to capture the melody, the rhythm, the lyrics, and maybe a chord progression.
That’s what the recordings on this page are; documentation of ideas.
Someday, these songs will be fleshed out, but for now, this is my backlog.
I have done nothing really special on the recordings.
I have a recording interface for my computer, and some free software to run with it, but mostly I just plug in my acoustic guitar, turn on the mic and run through the song once or twice. (Apologies for any car horns, road noise, airplanes, barking dogs, or screaming babies.)
There may be some effects or drums or a low end instrument added here and there, but that will be rare. These recordings are bear bones.
